Daddy Yankee, Tito “El Bambino” y Otros Artistas Se Suman a La Versión En Español De “We Are The World”
Este pasado fin de semana se dio a conocer a través de la red cibernética que el productor cubano Emilio Estefan y su esposa, la cantante Gloria Estefan, planeaban una versión en español de la recientemente reformulada canción benéfica de la autoría de Michael Jackson y Lionel Richie “We Are The World“, también a beneficio de las víctimas del terremoto de Haití.
En ese momento sólo se habían dado por confirmadas las participaciones de Jennifer López, Gloria Estefan, Jon Secada, Shakira, Ricky Martin, Paulina Rubio y Marc Anthony. Pero la lista de artistas participantes será mucho más extensa y en la misma aparecen varios cantantes boricuas como Gilberto Santa Rosa, Olga Tañón, Tito El Bambino, Ednita Nazario, Daddy Yankee, Luis Fonsi, Kany García y quizá Elvis Crespo, entre otros.
EU smart-home concept shown off
How everything in your house could be controlled by one device
"Smart-home" technology that allows people to control household appliances via their mobile phone or other gadgets is being shown off in Germany.
The EU-funded i2home project is aimed at giving greater independence and freedom to older and disabled people.
It uses so-called "middleware" to allow heating, air conditioning, lighting, and other gadgets to be controlled by a user's chosen interface.
It is the result of research between EU industry, universities and user groups.
"The users of the technology have been the driving force in the project - all technical solutions are based on a thorough investigation of the users' needs and desires," said project coordinator, Jan Alexandersson.
Kitchen concept
The researchers worked with various groups in order to match the technology to their needs, including Alzheimer's patients, blind and partially-sighted people and young people with cognitive impairments.
The research has now officially come to an end. But the project team, and some of the users, are still evaluating the work and demonstrating how the technology can be used in the German town of Saarbrücken.
There, the technology has been installed in a mocked-up kitchen.

"Finally, something that works," said Ginger Classen, a blind, German accessibility expert.
"If this technology is adopted by many manufacturers, I could finally go appliance shopping like sighted people in a normal store, having the choice to buy cool and stylish products."
This platform requires all appliances in the home to be networked together.
The middleware sits between the home appliances and a controlling device, such as a mobile phone, and allows them to communicate. i2home has also created a variety of interfaces for control devices.
So far the group has tested touch screens, mobile phones running the Windows Mobile and Android platforms, speech input and output devices and an ordinary domestic TV set with a simplified remote control to run the UCH.
The researches say that i2home demonstrates that technology - that has traditionally been regarded as too complex for many mainstream users - can be made usable and enjoyable for older and disabled people.
In addition, because the middleware has been built to open standards, it means that anyone can use the underlying code to build their own user interface for a device to control networked appliances.
By the start of 2010, there were more already than 100 organisations and companies in Europe using or working with i2home technology, according to Mr Alexandersson.
Gmail desafía a Facebook con Google Buzz

El servicio estará disponible en unos días para todos los usuarios de Gmail, desde la pantalla de la bandeja de entrada de la herramienta. Se ha diseñado como una plataforma abierta y de distribución, con lo que es compatible con Picasa, Google Reader, YouTube, Flickr, Blogger y Twitter, y próximamente lo será con más productos entre ellos, posiblemente, Facebook
Expertos advierten que con este paso, Gmail se convierte en una auténtica red social, y quizás el rival más peligroso a nivel mundial para Facebook.
Solo falta esperar a que Google revele si es posible registrar grupos de apoyo o desarrollar aplicaciones y juegos compatibles y sobretodo la reacción de Facebook frente a este hecho.

Lil Wayne Avoids Jail...With a Little Help From the Tooth Fairy
Kids, forget what you've been told about dental hygiene: Sometimes not taking care of your teeth can be a good thing.
Exhibit A: Lil Wayne. The Grammy-winning, megaselling rapper avoided a trip to jail today thanks to some emergency grillwork.
Weezy, 27, was due to be sentenced to about a year in one of Manhattan's finest lockups after copping to a gun charge last fall. Instead, he'll remain free for the rest of the month so he can take care of a dental problem.
His lawyer, Stacey Richman, said Wayne needed to have a cracked tooth repaired. He is scheduled for surgery in Miami this Friday, she told the court, and he'll need about 10 days to recover.
Judge Charles H. Solomon said that Wayne must be back on March to face the music. And no more delays.
"I don't want this to get pushed back anymore," he told Wayne. "This is the last adjournment."
Based on a video posted last night, it sounded like Weezy had planned on going to jail and didn't seem too upset about it.
The rambling clip on the Ustream page of protégé Lil Twist gave shout-outs to fans, friends, the Saints and pal Reggie Bush, and urged viewers to download songs off of his latest album, the long-delayed rock-rap hybrid Rebirth, which finally hit stores last week.
"I'm out this bitch," Wayne said. "To all my fans, my real fans, I really, really truly love you. I love you with all of me for real.
"Tonight's my last night...I came into the studio to get some work done. And to all you artists out there, that should be some kind of message, example, feel me? The work."
Despite the delay, his sentence is all but a done deal after he reached a plea bargain with prosecutors in October for a 2007 arrest.
